quick poll
For the sake of a very important project (v.i.p.) that a friend of mine is doing, please weigh-in on what you consider to be your top three choices for the Best American Rock Band. Stick 'em in the comments. Thanks! Oh, and I'll post the results once they've all been collected and tallied.

Hmmm... I am tempted to say:
1) Smashing Pumpkins
2) The Velvet Underground
3) Nirvana
I get a weird, slightly sick-feeling thrill from putting the Smashing Pumpkins before the Velvet Underground: the feeling of knowing something is wrong and doing it anyway, perhaps. I've been having a bit of a Nirvana-listening phase again recently. Nirvana were good.
I should stress that my methods in producing the above list were not especially scientific.
I wonder if an explanation of the nature of this v.i.p. will follow...?

NIN count as rock right? I would have put Cheap Trick in place of Suicide but I have been listening to 'Chost Rider' non-stop of late, who am I to argue?

i don`t know if they are the best, but they are my favourites. i guess bon jovi and g n` f`n` r should really be included if it was the best though...
